This available light image was shot using multiple exposures. I’ve been using multiple exposure techniques since my start in photography. I originally began using it because my lights didn’t have sufficient power to light the spaces I was photographing. I also learned how to use the technique to manipulate the available light as well.
This home was designed for entertaining. The homeowners were quite philanthropic and held large dinner parties with important people. Everything about the home was designed to communicate dignity. The sophisticated lighting and traditional design created a dramatic effect that I felt was more important to the design than the design elements themselves. And that effect, that feeling of drama and familial wealth, was what I wanted to communicate with this image.
