I love photographing architecture at dawn. The light has a unique clarity and crispness to it  because there is less haze and smog. We can also get these wonderful atmospheric effects such as the sun hitting the underside of the clouds as you see in this award winning shot I created for DES Architects & Engineers of this mixed use design in Palo Alto, CA.

The challenges of this project were to control parking and get the job shot before the deciduous trees lost any more of their leaves. The solution was to get restricted parking permits from the city. We strategically positioned my and my assistants cars in this shot to fill the street appropriately without blocking the view of the structure and communicate the urban nature of the project.
