Golden Gate Bridge
San Francisco, CA
Chief Engineer Joseph B. Strauss

Today’s architectural photograph is a shot I did of the Golden Gate Bridge in 2006. This image has been added to the permanent collection of the California Museum and is featured in the “Only in California” display. I was honored the museum selected my image as the quintessential image of the bridge given that they had so many thousands from which to choose.

I shot this image as a personal project on one of the rare fog free days we have in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was impressed by the grandeur of this magnificent structure and the engineering feat of building it with depression era technology. It truly is one of the greatest achievements of humankind and I wanted this image to convey that idea, along with my admiration for the artistic qualities of the bridge.

This image remains one of my all time favorites.
