This space was very elegant and the lighting was very well done. It was an overcast day that we shot, so the light coming in the window wasn’t overly strong.
I used the multiple exposure technique on this image to illuminate the fixtures and capture their effect without overexposing the fixture itself. I love the star points on the light bulbs in the chandelier.
The most challenging aspect of this shot was positioning the camera. I used the remote viewing capability allowed by the video function of the camera while tethered to my computer. It’s challenging to position the camera when you’re not looking in the same direction as the lens, but my experience working with 4x5 cameras in the chemical era served me well. (4x5 cameras flipped the images upside down on the ground glass viewing surface. Everything was both upside down and backwards.)
