I had a lot of fun photographing this foyer because it was such a charming space. The framing of the view into the garden with its verdant greenery was so delightful, and the chairs can only be described as cheery with their bright green silk upholstery.
It was also fun because the restricted space and glass wall posed a daunting technical challenge. I had to shoot with only available light to avoid reflections in the glass, but to get the camera into position I had to open both entrance doors. I blocked out the windows on the doors and beside the portal to eliminate those reflections. I then partially opened the doors to pass just enough light to fill the space without overcoming the view into the garden. The view had enough detail and activity to overcome the unavoidable reflections and cause them to go unnoticed by most people.
