I love reading Seth Godin’s blog. He always has great insights to share, he has a great sense of humor and he speaks clearly.
This post about the difference between persuasion and convincing is much more important than seems on first review.
Persuade vs. convinceAn anonymous copyeditor working on my new book unilaterally changed each usage of "persuade" to "convince."
I had to change them all back.
Marketers don't convince. Engineers convince.
If you think about you’ll realize that our most compelling arguments come from and appeal to our emotions. I do this when I’m creating photographs. I focus on showing the grace, wonder and beauty of the design, not the technical representation of the mechanics of construction and space planning.
Now, thanks to Seth I have a better idea of why I’m doing what I do.
