I love shooting dawn photographs because in the night the dusk, smoke and haze of city life has settled and the light is clear and bright. I shot this image of the Greater Sacramento Urban League (A Gold Nugget Award Winner) for Mogavero Notestine  using my 4x5 camera back in 2001. Back in the chemical era it was more challenging to shoot dawn shots than it is today because just seeing the building through the camera and focusing it in the dark was a challenge.

But just like today when the shot is done it’s always a joy to behold and that makes the extra effort worth while.
