Today’s Architectural Photograph is a dawn shot of the Whole Foods in Fair Oaks, CA shot in 2003 for Williams + Paddon Architects + Planners.
When I shot this image I wasn’t really trying very hard: It was a single shot exterior that had to be shot at dawn as that was the only time the parking lot wasn’t filled with cars. No big deal really. The only challenge was that the elevation of the building faced west so I had to shoot into the sunrise, this required a very early morning schedule to capture the the dawn light and get a nice gradient in the sky behind the building.
Now every time I show this image it gets rave reviews. It just goes to show you that you needn’t struggle and fight and suffer to get a great shot, sometimes they just come together, quick and simple.
