I was shooting a job recently and upon seeing a preliminary preview my client commented that she loved the shadows.

Shadows are just as important as the light - without shadows you have no "light."  Shadows define form, depth and texture. Shadows not only define space they define mood and help direct the eye and attention of the viewer.

Using available light as I am shadows are the partner in the yin yang dance of the images I create. The light leads the in dance but without the shadow to follow the dancer is incomplete and without meaning and therefore cannot convey the grace and beauty of the "dance."
