Widescreen Computer Format

I find it both interesting and surprising that in November of 2009 only thirty-three percent of the visitors to my website were using  wide screen format computers where today only six months later eighty-six percent of viewers are on wide screen machines with only fourteen percent using narrow screens.

So, it seems that a lot of people are buying new computers, but at least half of them are the thirteen inch screens. At this rate I will be able to drop the narrow screen version of my photograph of the month by August.

Spring Issue of Nesting Newbies

Design by Applegate Tran

The spring issue of Nesting Newbies is out and it looks really good.

I shot several interiors and all the food photographs that were shot in the studio. I also did image retouching and optimization for the magazine as well. There are only a few images in the last quarter of the magazine that I didn’t have something to do with.

I posted the fifty pages that include my images to my portfolio gallery along with the source images. Please take a look if you get the chance and let me know what you think.

Updates to Splash Page

Now that I’m no longer working with nesting Newbies I’m finally getting back on top of my duties and have updated the splash page of my website to include selected images I have created for my clients over the past few months. I think it looks great. If you have a chance please take a look and let me know what you think.

And once I deliver two more projects I can hopefully get back on top of the Photograph of the Month, but the client always comes first.

Published in Lila B. and Nesting Newbies

The world of shelter and lifestyle magazines has changed. I’ve changed to adapt to the new reality. I am proud to be a part of the future.

I’ve been shooting for Nesting Newbies for the past few months and one article was just picked up by Lila B. another on-line publication leading the charge into the “Generation Y” future.

Change is here, you can adapt and benefit or be left behind, because we work in a different world than it we did only two years ago.

Catch me if you can :)

A thumbnail ad/link for Blogs & Social Media

I have been asked to prepare a small add that people can use to link to me on blogs and social media sites around the web. It needed to be small enough to fit anywhere, fast loading but also legible.

Here it is… small, clean, simple and fast loading. It’s linked to my homepage and ready to go for whomever may want to link back to my website.

June 2009 Photograph of the Month: The Bay Bridge

A stunning photograph of the Bay Bridge in San Francisco at sunset on a clear day

A stunning photograph of the Bay Bridge in San Francisco at sunset on a clear day

This month’s photograph is titled “The Bay Bridge at Sunset”

I shot this on one of the clear sky days we get in September. Normally the environment in SF is gray and dreary which doesn’t produce dramatic sunsets. I shot this from the road above the Treasure Island Tunnel. I wanted to get to a more advantageous position but it was both restricted and dangerous to negotiate in the dark, so I opted for this stunning view.

I hope you enjoy this month’s photograph.

All images in my “Photograph of the Month” series are sized and formatted as a screen saver or computer desktop wallpaper. You can click on the image to open in a new window or download; please, share it with your family and friends, with my compliments.

And yet another busy week goes by

It has been a very busy week.

  • I’ve been voluteering with the SF/SPCA – still working on the Feral Cat Volunteers project.
  • Preparing to shoot the Dreams Happen Auction and event for Rebuilding Together Peninsula
  • And now I’m off to Fresno to photograph a brand new courthouse

This while still giving my clients the best customer service they have ever seen and doing the best I can to be a good husband.

Life used to be easier when all I had to do was shoot pictures and develop film, but this still beats watching T.V.

Web site updates are complete

I pay close attention to what my clients say they need from an architectural photographer and what I can do to help them. My commitment to customer service is just one of the many things that help me stand out from my competition here in San Francisco. “Helping you is why I am here” is not just a tag line it is the core principle upon which my business model is built, if you tell me what you need I will do all I can to help you.

I have been making some dramatic changes to my website over the past few weeks, the implementation of the blog for communications and the gallery for proofing required completely redesigning the structure of my entire web site. Everything I have done has been based on comments made by my clients about difficulties and requests for additional services.

It has been a challenge, but now I believe things are pretty much set up for me to provide for the known, predictable needs of my clients for at least the next three or four years. Of course, technology will change everything tomorrow and when that happens I should adapt to the new environment with a minimum amout of hassle for both myself and my clients.

Well now it’s time for me to work on populating my new photo gallery with wonderful images so there will be photographs to be seen.

Oh and please note that I have added a larger more prominent “contact me” button. Please feel free to send me a note or you can always call me on my toll free number 866-499-8083 and I will do all I can to help you… “Helping you is why I am here”

Photographers directories

I signed up with a bunch of photographers directories and they asked for a reciprocal link. I’m happy to do link backs, really. I’ve never liked the idea of putting them on my web pages because it looks cheesy and cheap. The blog gives me a good place to put them and if any impress me I can always put them on the permanent link list.

In my studies on SEO everyone says the same thing – sign up and link back but don’t pay because unless they’re a Google or Yahoo the pay-off will be minimal. And the idea is to “get the word out” about your business, not get nickle and dimed to death.

Got my first spam post

Woo Hoo! I just got my first spam post.

It was just random characters with links that didn’t go anywhere, but I’m sure they’ll be back selling viagra, or easy credit home loans soon.
